Today was my 12th acupuncture treatment for my right arm. It is also the first time in two and a half months that I am able to draw with my dominant (right) hand. In another month, I hope to use it for close-up magic again. Meanwhile, I'm shuffling with my left.

Drew at CSUN tonight. Norm, a teacher at that University was in charge of the uninstructed class. Drawing with my left hand still; I had my 7th acupuncture today. I was told I would be able 2 use my right hand again after my 6th treatment. The only difference today is that I can now move my thumb a fraction of an inch.

Drawing with my non-dominant hand. I have only received two acupuncture treatments on my right hand thus far. I have so many ideas, but I just jot them down with my left hand. I refuse to start painting til next year. Understanding anatomical structure comes first; by that I intend to draw it correctly without reference.

Still a lefty. I saw the doc today. I have a tear in my supraspinatus muscle; anterior shoulder located in the upper humerus and acetabelum joint. In other words I'm officially left handed.

Interestingly enough, a girl saw me in the uninstructed life drawing class & told me that if she couldn't draw with her right hand she would just give up art. I told her, "If you really love what you do, you'll do what ever it takes". She just shook her head & walked away. My guess is that one doesn't know what one would really do until they are put in that situation. All I do know is what I've done. I've drawn with my left hand since July 22nd, 2011 not because I wanted to, but because I had to.

I have been practicing everyday without fail for the last month. I don't think about how difficult it is, I just do what I love.

Finished reading and drawing every sketch in the Stephan Peck, "Atlas of human anatomy for the artists" today. Although I study anatomy, I use landmarks to help me figure out the pose without being a slave to contour lines. The freedom of line expressed must be present or the subject appears to be too stiff. Also freedom to leave out what ever I choose can still give the viewer what they need to decipher the image as long as the main sections are not nebulous.

I am currently reading and drawing all the illustrations from a new book by Stephen Rodgers Peck,"Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist". This book is excellent. It give's the artist basic detail on how the human body functions.

I usually don't show full nudes on my blog, but this man creates such great poses that I couldn't resist. I hope I don't offend anyone. Frankly, he has some remarkable canes that he poses with that I would like to show, but since magic kid shows are my main market, I won't take that chance. I love people too much to disrespect their privacy.
